Rasidpur, near Madhubani town, is one of the cluster of villages — alongside Jitwarpur and Ranti — where Mithila painting is a living daily craft rather than a museum tradition. It is best known as the home of the painter Ambika Devi, a torch-bearer of the bharni and kohbar styles whose work carried the village’s name to national exhibitions.
Like its neighbours, Rasidpur shows how a single Madhubani district packs several distinct ateliers of women artists, each village with its own hands, lines and reputation.
