Pusa, in Samastipur district, holds a singular place in Indian science: it was here that the Imperial Agricultural Research Institute was founded in 1905 (later moving to Delhi as IARI, which still carries the “Pusa” name). Today it is home to the Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University.

In a region whose life has always been bound to its fields and rivers, Pusa stands for Mithila’s contribution to the science of the soil.
