Pindaruch, in Darbhanga district, is remembered as the birthplace (1831) of the poet Chanda Jha — Kavi Chandra — who gave Mithila its first Ramayana in Maithili and did more than anyone since Vidyapati to make the language a vehicle of serious literature.
Like Bisfi for Vidyapati, Pindaruch is one of those modest Maithil villages whose name is carried far beyond its fields by the work of a single great writer born within it.
