Jhanjharpur, a subdivision headquarters on the Kamala in Madhubani district, is today best known as the gateway to Mithila Haat, the cultural theme-park at nearby Araria Sangram. A busy market and rail town, it anchors the eastern part of the district and serves a wide rural hinterland of villages.
