Singheshwar Sthan, near Madhepura, is one of the most revered Shiva shrines of the Kosi region — sometimes called the “Deoghar of the Kosi” for the crowds it draws. Linked in legend to the sage Shringi Rishi and protected as an archaeological site, it fills with pilgrims during Shravan and on Mahashivratri.
It is one of the chain of ancient temples by which the eastern, Kosi-side of Mithila keeps its sacred geography alive.
