Bisfi, in Madhubani district, is revered as the birthplace of Vidyapati (c. 1352–1448), the Maithil Kavi Kokil who turned Maithili into a literary language. A village of farmers and scholars, it keeps the poet’s memory through the annual Vidyapati Parva, and stands as a quiet place of pilgrimage for lovers of Maithili letters.
