Benipatti is a block town in the north-west of Madhubani district, close to the Uchhaith Bhagwati temple where the poet Kalidasa is said to have been blessed. Set among the rivers of the upper Mithila plain near the Nepal border, it is a typical market town serving its surrounding farming villages.
